Swan Lake
Synopsis
Princess Aurora, the King's daughter, falls into eternal sleep after pricking herself on a knitting needle on the day of her coming-of-age celebration. This is the revenge of the evil fairy Carabosse, whom the royal master of ceremonies, Catalabutte, forgot to invite to the princess's christening many years ago. A hundred years later, thanks to the good fairy Lilac, Prince Désiré enters the sleeping forest while hunting, where he sees the sleeping Aurora. The enamoured prince's kiss awakens the beauty and breaks the fairy Carabosse's evil spell. The ballet ends with a celebration in honor of the wedding of Princess Aurora and Prince Désiré.
Music by P. I. Tchaikovsky
